Giving Tuesday - November 2021
For the fifth year in a row, the Frank R. Williams Scholarship Fund participated in Giving Tuesday on Tuesday, November 30. Giving Tuesday was a wonderful opportunity for people to transform their communities and the world around them through giving. Our fundraising goal of $4,000 allowed us to continue to award a four-year college scholarship to a deserving Calvin Coolidge Senior High School student.
Since the Fund’s inception 14 years ago, we have awarded financial scholarships to 22 college-bound Calvin Coolidge Senior High School students.
Moving With A Cause - May 2021
The Frank R. Williams Scholarship Fund continued the tradition of the annual "Walk with a Cause" but virtually! We want to thank everyone who supported and participated this year for our MOVING WITH A CAUSE event on Saturday, May 22 and May 23, 2021.
Dine with a Cause - July 2020
We are very happy to continue our Dine with a Cause event at Mark’s Kitchen (7006 Carroll Ave, Takoma Park, MD), on Tuesday, July 14th, from 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. We invite you to order lunch or dinner for pick up or delivery, as there will be no dine-in options this year. Orders can be made by phone for pick-up (301-270-1884), or via DoorDash for delivery, with 15% of all sales donated to support the Frank R. Williams Annual Scholarships.
Pizza Informational - March 2020
Our Pizza Informational was held right before the transition to distance learning. Helen, Randi, and board member, Kenya Gray, spoke with 15 senior student athletes who expressed interest in the 2020 scholarship opportunity.
Mix & Mingle - FRW Happy Hour - February 2019
Friends of the Frank R. Williams Scholarship Fund mixed and mingled at the Grilled Oyster Co. on Thursday, February 28, 2019! Our supporters got a head start on registering for our 10th Annual Two-Mile Fun Walk which is being held on April 27, 2019.
Never Give Up - Documentary Screening - Busboys & Poets - March 2015
Following a year and a half filled with much hard work, the FRW Fund Operational Board hosted a private screening of the documentary, Frank Rudolph Williams: Never Give Up, for the film's participants at Busboys and Poets Takoma on March 22, 2015. The film weaves together the true stories of individuals whose lives were touched by Frank R. Williams, who served as head basketball coach at Calvin Coolidge Senior High School in Northwest, D.C. during the 1970s and 1980s.
